Sugar Workers' Walk

On this Auckland historic walk, retrace the daily steps of Birkenhead's 19th century sugar factory workers. New Zealand's only sugar factory was built in 1884 and, at one point, employed nearly all of Birkenhead Village. The first walking trails were 'etched' out by sugar workers walking home to their cottages after their day's work. [approx. 35-40 minute walk]
