Warkworth

Charming Historic Riverside village

Enjoy the ambience of this riverside village, where historical architecture and scenic walking trails go hand-in-hand with boutique galleries and a bustling cafe scene.

As you stroll through Warkworth, you'll see fine examples of the history behind this scenic village. From the riverside boardwalk, you can also see the restored Jane Gifford scow, which used to ply these waters and is now available for river cruises.

Warkworth is also one of the famous filming locations from the hugely popular New Zealand detective drama, The Brokenwood Mysteries. The real-life town of Warkworth doubles as Brokenwood, the village where the murder mystery series was filmed.

As well as shooting many of the scenes on Warkworth high street, there are also some familiar landmarks for the fictional town of Brokenwood including the historic 'Establishment Hotel' on Queen Street.

There are plenty of specialist shops and boutique galleries to explore, before stopping for a relaxing meal at one of the many cafes/restaurants.
